We need your help.

It will only take a few minutes to fill out a survey that could 1) help restore the Ocklawaha and St. Johns Rivers and Silver Springs, 2) provide essential habitat for hundreds of manatees, 3) uncover 20 drowned springs and regain 150 MGD of natural downstream flow, 4) reconnect the historic fish migration path from the Atlantic Ocean to Silver Springs, and 5) Restore 7500 acres of wetland forest to strengthen the Florida Wildlife Corridor. In addition to that it will save millions on repairing an unsafe dam that never served its intended purpose.

  • Don’t worry about writing a lot of words – your vote for “Restore the Ocklawaha River by breaching the Rodman/Kirkpatrick Dam” is most essential
  • Your vote matters a lot. Legislators have told us that this is going to inform their decision about Ocklawaha River restoration this session. SJRWMD’s press release said, “The online feedback will help inform future key decisions regarding the best path forward — continued management and operation of the structures or an alternative restoration strategy.”
  • If you have been on the Ocklawaha River anywhere from Eureka to the Dam you have been on the reservoir or if you have crossed the Cross Florida Barge Canal on SR19 south of Palatka, most likely you have seen the reservoir.
  • If you live out-of-state scroll to the bottom of the county list and there will be an “out of area” check off.
Ocklawaha River Restoration is the most impactful and cost-effective conservation project available to Florida today. After 50 years, we are at a make it or break it moment.

I am urging you to speak out in favor of restoration. This may be our last great opportunity to restore this riverway for people and wildlife. Go to to obtain the link for the SJRWMD public input form and tips for filling out the short 5 question survey.
